Once it gets bad enough it won't matter. There wont be enough police for getting caught without a license to even be an issue (unless you happen to be very unlucky/stupid).

Texas gun law battle brewing over 'open carry' proposal

They're setting their sights on Texas and coming out firing. More than a month before the legislative session starts Jan. 13, gun-rights supporters are asking state lawmakers to pass an "open carry" law to let Texans stop covering up the guns they carry and wear them openly.

They are putting their message on billboards, on banners on cabs and in radio ads, asking others to sign on to the cause.

"We are targeting Texas," said Mike Stollenwerk, co-founder of www.opencarry.org, a champion of the growing nationwide effort. "Texas is probably the most pro-gun state, but doesn�t have open-carry laws.
"As Texans realize how restrictive their rights are . . . there will be an awakening. Get ready for a showdown in Austin come January."

Texas is somewhat of an open-carry battleground because it is one of only six states where handguns cannot, in some form, legally be worn in plain view. Texas residents may carry concealed handguns if they have a permit.

Basically yes. If someone has a gun on you and you arent a master of self defense, its best just to hand over your wallet. Better that than a hole in the head. Let me reverse situtation on you. If YOU had a gun on ME do you think I could get it from YOU before you could shoot ME?

I carry everywhere. I have a permit but I will walk into schools, anywhere.

I carry to protect my life and my families life. Signs will not stop me.

There comes a point to law with respect of liberty vs crime. Police and politicians didnt help her....and now she is dead. She doesnt get to come back and bitch about the stupidity of laws (made to "protect her"..haha)

America has to many God damn laws and they dont enforce half of them.

Little ol' me looks at the risk/benefit ratio of my families protection and I proceed from there.

There are many laws that dont make sense......donesnt mean I going to follow them.

Good luck fellow citizens....you are up against office holders and criminals........sometimes...they are both.....using your money to do it.

I think there is a good chance he might have put her in the car, made her drive off into the middle of nowhere, raped her, then killed her. If he said, "Get in the car!" she knew her chances were better right there.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry Christmas. Who knows what REALLY happened. I was just going with the story at hand. You're pumping gas and some schmo wants your dollars against your will. I STILL say hand over your wallet and STFU. Could he still kill you? Theres always the chance BUT statistics say no.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I'd like to see what experts tell you to put up a fight ( 'what ever it's going to be') with a pistol aimed in your direction (your face/head) and you (the one who has the pistol pointed at) knows NOTHING about self defense AND caught completely off guard and have nothing to size up with except fear and emotion. She screwed up and should have just handed over the money. What is my reason to say this? Well, her dead body for one...

Well "statistically" those guys that got shot while laying face down in a dunkin donuts a while back shouldn't have been, since they offered no resistance. I'm not willing to place my faith in "statistics" these days because a lot of todays criminals aren't in it just for the money. They're "sadistic" freaks.

I'm saying do what you have too to be safe and protected.......and that this can mean breaking a law to do it.

Great Get a permit if it makes you feel all better inside. I have one. But the "no firearm" signs just have no meaning to me.

I have to agree......

If somebody got the drop on me ........ they get the wallet(not worth my life) But If I see they are "looking for more" Then I go down giving that bastard everything I got ........and then some.

Al least she died fighting.

Yes, accidently, but I did spend the next 3 hours in an emergency room have my eye lids held open and sterilized bags of water slowly dripped into my eyes. They said I was lucky it was only a small amount that got in my eyes or I could have lost my sight.

I don't carry guns. Heck I don't even own guns! I "lost" all mine years ago in a tragic U-Haul accident.
